We're seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and bring data to the heart of N Brown. You'll be part of Group Data, focusing on exploring solutions to maintain, improve, and scale our use of data.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers in creating, maintaining, and extending our analytics platform
- Data ETL - Design patterns for ingesting, transforming, and exposing data
- Drive adoption of strong CI/CD practices to reduce deployment risks
- Coach your team in best practices and coding standards
- Develop your team's software development capabilities
- Collaborate across technology squads and teams
- Work within an agile operating model with cross-functional teams
- Manage the Analytics Platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to various audiences
- Experience delivering large-scale transformation projects with a focus on end-to-end data architecture
- Deep interest in how data architectures can improve experiences and drive better business decisions
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform stack (BigQuery, Composer, Dataplex, Dataflow, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, GCS, Vertex AI, GKE) or similar cloud platforms
- Familiarity with open-source data-stack tools (Airflow, DBT, Kafka, Great Expectation, etc.)
- Appreciation of modern cloud data stack, headless BI, analytics engineering, Data Mesh, and Lake House
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Teradata, Mainframe, and/or Google Analytics
- Experience with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Looker)
- Understanding of Agile principles, practices, and tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Understanding of data management, analytics, science, and visualization workflows

Ways of Working
We offer hybrid working which varies across the business depending on the role you’re in.. Our Head Office is located in the Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre. So if you are travelling by train, tram or bus we’re perfectly located, plus we’re surrounded by cool cafes, trendy bars and the best places to eat!
Our full-time working hours are 36.17 per week over 5-days. We don’t have strict working hours therefore there is some flexibility around start and finish times as long as you are meeting the needs of the business.
