Innovation is at the heart of our culture, we don’t shy away from trying new things and pushing the limits of our technology stack at Frasers. We are also passionate about how our technology can elevate our customers and our colleagues across the world.
One of the standout projects we’ve tackled is the migration from Snowflake to Google BigQuery. Data platform migrations are always exciting, but this one was especially rewarding because it wasn’t just a simple lift-and-shift—we had the chance to build something fresh from the ground up.
We’re still in the early days, with analysts only just beginning to fully use the platform this year. But even now, we’ve architected it in a way that allows analysts to access new data sources in hours instead of days. Plus, it has drastically reduced technical debt for our data team, making future management much smoother.
Frasers Group has a startup-style approach to technology. We constantly test new ideas to see if they solve real business problems or improve existing processes. Our “fail fast” approach means we encourage iteration—if something doesn’t work, we learn and move on quickly.
We also collaborate closely with tech suppliers, often getting early access to their latest innovations, which helps us stay ahead of the curve.
The sheer variety of work and the breadth of our tech stack set us apart. Frasers Group has grown significantly in recent years, and with each new merger comes fresh technology challenges. We have to untangle, absorb, and eventually migrate different tech systems—all while managing our own share of tech debt.
But what makes us unique is our willingness to take on these challenges head-on. Whether it’s testing proofs of concept or tackling large-scale migrations, we never hesitate to try something new.
The opportunities for career growth at Frasers Group are incredible. In just two years, I moved from Senior Data Engineer to Head of Commercial and Retail Data Engineering. The data team are a fantastic team to be a part of and we work well with the wider IT team
and the rest of the business.
Because we work with such a diverse range of technologies, I’ve been able to gain deep expertise across multiple areas. It’s a place where you’re constantly learning, evolving, and pushing your limits.
