This is a great opportunity to get involved in a big re-platforming implementation, with lots of greenfield development. You will be supported within a close-knit team and encouraged to focus on personal development, with access to 12 training days annually.

As part of a platform team, you will use your software development skills to build features, solve bugs, address technical debt, improve how we work and ultimately provide valuable, high-quality software to our customers. You will be focused on changes to Legal & General’s strategic Content Management System, which integrates with our websites and other core applications.

  • Building clean, maintainable features on our CMS and resolving end-to-end issues with an understanding of different possible approaches
  • Understanding and contributing to test approaches and solutions within your team so that the customer experience is of the highest quality – with an emphasis on security, usability and accessibility
  • Contributing to work that will continuously improve the team’s approaches to security, quality, deployment, monitoring and operations
  • Participating in code reviews with an emphasis on functionality and other non-functional requirements
  • Collaborating with Engineers and other colleagues at all levels. Mentoring junior-level developers to broaden their responsibilities, improve their skills and remove their own blockers
  • .Net 5/6 and C# knowledge is required for this role
  • Knowledge of web security is essential
  • It would be great if you have experience of developing CMS platforms
  • Experience of developing on the Episerver/Optimizely CMS platform would be amazing
  • Knowledge of agile software development methodologies would be useful
  • An understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment and release strategies would be beneficial

When you commit to Legal & General, we’ll commit to you too. That means we’ll recognise and reward your hard work, your performance and your contribution.

If you join us, you’ll get access to some great benefits, including private medical insurance, at least 25 days holiday (excluding bank holidays), a generous pension scheme, life assurance, and Income Protection. You can participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice. We’re also proud to offer competitive family leave.

You’ll have the opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes. And then there are the many discounts we offer that you can take advantage of – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online offerings.
