1st stage Interview: Whiteboard / Coding Interview - 45 mins 💻
The Interview Experience
● The interview will heavily focus on coding
● Feel free to use the language you're most comfortable with
● Share your thinking as you go - we love hearing your process
● Don't worry about small syntax errors as we won’t be running your code - finding and fixing your own bugs actually shows skill!
What We're Looking For
1. Friendly Communication

○ Walk us through your reasoning
○ Show us different approaches you're considering
○ Talk about efficiency in a natural way
2. Coding + Computer Science Knowledge
○ Transform your ideas into well-organized code

○ Understand time+space complexity of your solutions
3. Thoughtful Verification
○ Consider how your solution handles different scenarios
○ Walk through your own logic confidently
2nd stage Interview: Behavioral Interview - 45 mins 🔍
Hiring Manager Interview
● Discuss a past project in-depth, focusing on your technical decisions and how they align with Flex's tech stack (Ruby on Rails, Django, Java, and migration challenges)
3rd stage Interview: Architecture / Design Interview - 45 mins 🏗️
The Interview Experience
● 45-minute conversation about complex system or product design
● You’ll be provided with a drawing program as a tool to help in communicating your ideas but you won’t be expected to draw things you discuss - we just want you to be able to clearly communicate your design
● Our discussion could include general design topics such as :
○ API design, usability, and utility
○ DB Design
○ Distributed systems
○ Scalability
○ Performance
○ Bottlenecks

1. Problem Navigation
○ How you organize the problem space and constraints
○ How you define requirements to design against
