The University of Manchester has a long heritage of supporting outstanding student athletes over the last 100 years of intervarsity sporting competition. The University recognises the importance of delivering a high-quality sporting offer for both our current students experience and success as well as for prospective athletes considering Manchester as their place of study.
The University is therefore seeking to appoint a Sport Competitions Administrator to support the Performance team to deliver programme provisions to our University of Manchester sport teams and individuals. The role holder will be responsible for supporting the Performance Sport and broader UoM Sport strategic objectives that aim to deliver high quality sport and physical activity experiences for everyone at every level. Specifically, the Sport Competitions Administrator will assist the Sport Coordinator (Representative Sport) in the organisation and administration of sports clubs and individuals, ensuring effective support and programme provisions, particularly in the areas of weekly fixtures, events, travel, officials, training, health and safety and equipment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the coordination of our year-round representative sport program, which includes the administration to organise trials, training, inter-university competition and sports coach recruitment. The role involves collaborating with various individuals and teams across the UoM Sport department and managing multiple stakeholders and partners simultaneously. Applicants should build effective relationships with stakeholders and have a strong understanding of sports club administration and organising sports activities. Competence in using IT (specifically M365 apps and software), working within budget parameters, effective record keeping and prioritising work to meet agreed objectives are also required. We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual with significant experience of competition administration in sport in the UK, ideally within the higher education sports environment.
