  • Lead a team of around ten electronics engineers developing the Dragonfire beam-director electronic hardware.
  • Develop new Dragonfire electronics through the full design lifecycle; from requirements analysis; concept development through design, build and test; to system integration; and lastly to acceptance test and delivery to the customer.
  • You will work closely with Software, Firmware, Mechanical and Systems engineering leads to solve real integration problems on test systems.
  • Work alongside engineers from partner organisations both with the Dragonfire consortium and user community.
  • Take ownership of all electronics work package, planning your teams work, supervising the engineers in completion of their tasks, and reporting to all stakeholders.
  • As the lead electronics engineer, you are responsible for creating high quality and robust electronics design; for fully documenting and recording your work products; keeping them under configuration management and providing plans and reports on progress.
  • Ensure electronics development progresses in accordance with applicable processes and procedures.
  • Taking an active role in engineering process improvement.
  • Ensure electronics support to ongoing system trials
  • Training will be delivered via a combination of on-the-job experience working alongside subject matter experts with many decades of experience, plus additional formal technical training delivered via taught courses depending on the business needs.

 

What we need from you:

  • Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering or related science or equivalent work experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in at least one aspect of electronics design, for example: analogue, mixed-signal, digital or power electronics.
  • Experience of team leadership and work package management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach less experienced members of the team.
  • Capable of adapting to different contexts and situations.
  • Good knowledge of developing electronics within a development process framework.
  • Able to demonstrate experience in most areas of the design lifecycle from requirements definition through to implementation, integration test and delivery.

 

Demonstrable experience in the following areas will help you stand out:

  • Experience with any of the following technologies: Electro-Optics, Lasers, Camera Imaging Systems, Servo Control Systems, Power Electronics, Safety Involved Hardware.
  • Experience developing electronics system architectures.
  • Experience with Siemens Xpedition, or similar ECAD toolsets.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of design for EMC.
  • Well-rounded engineering experience in all phases of the Product Life Cycle across several projects.
  • Experience of customer/ supplier relations and working within multi-discipline project teams.
