Join us as a Software Engineer at Barclays where you will lead hands‑on engineering delivery for our platform and core services, driving the development of scalable, resilient and secure enterprise solutions. You will play a critical role in designing and building Java‑based platforms and APIs, enabling continuous delivery through robust CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring production readiness across the delivery lifecycle.
To be successful as a Software Engineer, you should have experience with:
Java and Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security and related frameworks
API‑led architecture, with strong experience designing and building RESTful services and integration layers
Container platforms, with hands‑on experience in OpenShift / Kubernetes for application deployment and runtime management
CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, including build automation, quality gates, security scans and deployment pipelines
Relational databases, with strong hands‑on experience in Oracle (SQL, performance tuning, schema design)
Event‑driven architectures, with solid working knowledge of Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Experience with application monitoring and observability tools such as AppDynamics (AppD) and eSaaS / platform tooling
Strong working knowledge of JIRA, Agile/Scrum delivery models and enterprise SDLC processes
Experience supporting non‑production and production environments, including release readiness and incident support
Understanding of enterprise engineering practices, including security, performance, resiliency and scalability.
