PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The BBC’s Recommendations Platform powers millions of personalised suggestions every day across iPlayer, Sounds, News, Sport and more. We have been investing in strong foundations and are now ready to focus on enabling faster innovation at scale. This role exists to lead that next phase — developing the platform that empowers our data scientists and engineers to create, experiment with and operate a wide variety of recommendation systems. By doing so, you’ll help teams across the BBC deliver more relevant, distinctive and rewarding experiences for our audience, supporting our mission to inform, educate and entertain in ways that feel personal to them.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team at a pivotal moment, as our focus shifts from building the platform to unlocking its full potential. The Recommendations Platform sits at the heart of how the BBC personalises its products. You’ll line manage product managers, and work alongside engineers, data scientists, designers and editorial colleagues who share a passion for using technology to serve the public. This is a rare opportunity to shape shared infrastructure that delivers lasting value for audiences and for the BBC’s future.
