The role

Are you ready to make a real difference in protecting communities from the impacts of flooding?

We’re looking for a motivated, technically minded individual to join our Asset Performance team, based in North Wales. You’ll work alongside a team of skilled Engineers and Technicians who plan, manage and maintain vital flood risk assets—everything from embankments and flood walls to tidal gates and pumping stations.

Using your technical expertise with a sharp focus on data and GIS systems, you’ll help develop targeted investment programmes to ensure our assets remain resilient against both current and future flood risks. Out in the field, you’ll survey and monitor asset performance, compiling inspection reports that shape our maintenance and improvement plans.

If you come from an engineering or construction background and want to be part of a forward-thinking team making a tangible impact, we want to hear from you.

As an organisation we support flexible working.  You will be contracted to an NRW office within the place base / location above and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

To make an informal enquiry about this role, please contact Gareth Evens at gareth.evens@cyfoethnaturiolcymru.gov.uk

Interviews will take place at one of our area offices.

Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.

What you will do

  • Assist in the development and management of a risk based Asset Management programme.
  • Help ensure that decisions are consistent, risk based and in line with agreed Government approach.
  • Assist in maintaining the organisations Flood Risk Asset data repository System, AMX.
  • Collect data from sources as required to help analyse flood risk asset management need.
  • Support Operations Teams to enable delivery of the Asset Maintenance programme by providing relevant information.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering Technical notes and Initial assessments.
  • Support Health and Safety best practice by actively promoting awareness and ensuring the provision of safe working practices to comply with NRW’s policy and standards.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post
  • Be committed to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy, together with an understanding of how it operates within the responsibilities of the post
  • Be committed to your own development through the effective use of your personal development plan.
  • Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.
