The VP, IB Media Relations will play a pivotal role in shaping and elevating the Investment Banking business’s external narrative, positioning the business as a leading voice in UK and global capital markets. This role leads strategic media engagement around corporate priorities, macro‑economic developments, and key transactions, while driving alignment across internal communications, marketing, social media, government relations and events for maximum impact.
Core responsibilities include developing compelling narratives to support the Investment Banking priorities in the UK, delivering integrated communications around major listings, M&A deals, and strategic initiatives, and securing differentiated editorial and broadcast opportunities across tier‑one outlets. The role also partners closely with senior leadership to craft thought‑leadership, coordinate live reaction to economic events, and strengthen relationships with influential journalists, ensuring consistent, confident visibility for the Investment Banking business in the UK and globally.
To be successful as a VP, IB Media Relations, you should have the following experience:
- Experience working within an investment banking communications environment or a financial PR agency, with direct exposure to capital markets and corporate finance topics
- Deep understanding of investment banking operations, international banking trends, and market events that shape the sector
- Established relationships with key trade publications and national media, with a track record of effective engagement and issues management
- Confident in advising senior stakeholders, providing clear tactical counsel, and navigating complex or sensitive communications challenges

Purpose of the role
To communicate execution of the bank’s strategy and objectives effectively to the relevant external stakeholders.
Accountabilities
- Delivery and execution of the bank’s external communications strategy so that messages are communicated effectively to the relevant stakeholders across multiple channels, both owned and earned.
- Development of strategy aligned campaigning/ tactical content/ news flow that clearly and effectively communicates the banks values, goals and objectives to the public.
- Maintenance of external stakeholder relationships, such as media outlets and industry groups, so that messages communicated through press releases, owned channels and media statements correctly demonstrate the bank’s strategy values and reputation.
- Reputational risk minimisation and management for the Bank and its senior leadership through effective advice of risk mitigation, and effective management of negative news flow/ crisis issues.
