About the role
We are seeking a Lead Microservices Engineer to develop and implement cutting-edge solutions using Java technologies and cloud platforms. This person will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets business needs. Expertise in AWS, OpenShift, Kafka, and Spring Boot Microservices will be crucial in optimizing performance and scalability. The lead will play a key role in shaping the technical direction and ensuring the successful execution of projects.
In this role, you will:
· Lead the design and development of robust software solutions using Java and Spring Boot Microservices to meet business requirements.
· Oversee the integration of AWS and Open Shift platforms to enhance application scalability and performance.
· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of Kafka and Java REST Web APIs.
· Implement Java Design Patterns to optimize code efficiency and maintainability.
· Drive the adoption of Java 17 features to improve application performance and security.
· Ensure adherence to best practices in Java Full Stack development, delivering high-quality and reliable software.
· Monitor and troubleshoot application issues, ensuring timely resolution to minimize downtime.
· Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain coding standards and quality. - Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for software solutions and processes.
· Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with the latest advancements in Java and cloud technologies.
· Contributes to the strategic planning and execution of technical projects, aligning with company goals.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

What you need to have to be considered
· Bachelor’s degree in IS, Computer Science Business Administration or related field (or equivalent experience).
· Experience in advanced Java, Java 17, Open Shift, Spring Boot, Micro Services, Java REST Web API, Java Full Stack, Java Design Patterns and Kafka.

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $112,500 - $132,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
