Head of Enterprise Finance Technology

Role purpose:

Finance, Sustainability & Global External Communications Technology is driving strategic transformation as part of Group Functions Technology within the GCIO organisation.

This role leads the Enterprise Finance Value Stream end-to-end for Technology, acting as the senior Technology partner to Enterprise Finance stakeholders. The role is accountable for technology strategy, delivery (CTB), run (RTB), production service assurance, architecture direction, vendor management, controls and risk across a global estate.

The role operates globally with an overall budget of up to USD 80m.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for end-to-end technology value stream delivery, aligned to agreed outcomes and OKRs across Enterprise Finance and GEC.
  • Act as the senior leader and overall service owner for the Enterprise Finance technology estate, including delivery and production support.
  • Define and drive a multi-year transformation roadmap, including simplification of legacy solutions, strategic platform adoption, and alignment to target architecture and operating model.
  • Drive adoption and optimisation of Agile and DevOps ways of working, improving speed-to-market, resilience, quality and colleague experience.
  • Build trusted partnerships with Enterprise Finance business leadership and operations teams, ensuring technology priorities directly support business outcomes and regulatory/controls expectations.
  • Lead enterprise architecture direction for systems in scope globally; translate market trends (data, digital, automation, cloud) into practical improvements and measurable outcomes.
  • Own service management and operational resilience: monitoring, incident/problem management, capacity, performance, and meeting time-critical reporting/close timelines where applicable.
  • Own RTB and CTB financial management: budget planning, forecasting, investment cases, benefits tracking, and cost optimisation.


Essential experience / capabilities:

  • Proven senior technology leadership with a track record of on-time delivery and high-quality outcomes at scale.
  • Experience owning end-to-end global technology services (delivery, run) across a complex, federated estate.
  • Strong background in cloud adoption (public/multi-cloud), modern engineering practices, and platform-based delivery.
  • Strong data and integration experience and understanding of enterprise data strategy, analytics/BI patterns, and governance.
  • Demonstrable experience leading technology transformation in a banking environment, including large programmes and global rollouts.
  • Strong Agile/DevOps leadership experience (operating model, metrics, tooling, continuous improvement).
  • Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, investment governance, benefits realisation.
  • Gravitas with senior stakeholders; excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills; able to explain complex topics clearly in writing and verbally.
