JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to grow your software engineering career in a high-impact domain.

As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology, Identity & Governance Organization, you will join a tight-knit, ownership-promoten team that builds the measurement and monitoring layer for one of the firm's most critical platforms. Our work spans the full spectrum; from designing dashboards and alerting systems that give leadership real-time visibility into application health, to developing AI-driven solutions that help our production support partners work smarter and faster, to diving hands-on into urgent, complex problems when the situation demands it. This role combines software engineering with meaningful analytical work: writing performant Oracle SQL, developing Python-based tooling, building Grafana visualizations, leveraging AI/ML capabilities, and integrating across enterprise identity systems via REST APIs. You will be expected to operate with autonomy, push through technical blockers independently, and take genuine ownership of your work from concept to production.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain monitoring dashboards, alerting systems, and observability solutions using Grafana, Oracle SQL, and Python that provide real-time insight into the health of the firm's identity platform.
  • Write performant, production-quality SQL queries against large-scale Oracle datasets and optimize for reliability and speed.
  • Develop and iterate on AI-powered tooling that enhances operational effectiveness for production support and engineering partners.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize data from diverse sources to produce visualizations and reports that drive continuous improvement and executive decision-making.
  • Proactively identify data anomalies, systemic risks, and hidden patterns; then translate those insights into engineering improvements or stakeholder recommendations.
  • Act as a rapid-response resource for critical, cross-cutting technical problems, diagnosing root causes and delivering solutions under pressure.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to team knowledge bases, and foster a culture of diversity, opprtunity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience

Hands-on experience in software development, system design, and application troubleshooting.

  • Strong SQL skills, particularly with Oracle databases — ability to write, optimize, and debug complex queries against large datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, scripting, and tooling development.
  • Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs in an enterprise environment.
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies including CI/CD.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, you push through blockers, research deeply, and deliver without constant direction.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to reason about data quality, integrity, and completeness.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience with Grafana or similar monitoring/visualization platforms (dashboards, alerting, datasource configuration).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and practical experience applying them to operational or engineering problems.
  • Exposure to Identity & Access Management concepts.
  • A natural curiosity and internal drive to understand why things work, not just how
