The Role

As the Director of AI Engineering, you will lead our team of machine learning researchers, engineers, and data specialists in developing innovative AI solutions for the financial sector. You will work closely with the C-Suite to align our technical strategies with business objectives and manage the team to deliver high-impact results.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with C-Suite executives to define and execute the company's AI strategy and roadmap

- Lead and mentor a diverse team of ML researchers, engineers, and data specialists

- Oversee the development of cutting-edge AI models and tools, particularly focusing on applications in quantitative finance

- Architect and implement scalable, resilient, and efficient AI infrastructure solutions. Directly contribute to product development by writing code and providing technical guidance

- Drive the adoption of best practices in AI/ML development

- Manage resource allocation, budgeting, and project prioritization for the AI team

- Represent the company's technical capabilities to potential clients, partners, and at industry events

- Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI/ML and identify opportunities for innovation

- Ensure that AI solutions meet the high standards of performance, scalability, and reliability required in the financial sector

- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team

Requirements

- Master's or PhD (or a Bachelor’s plus equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field

- 10+ years of experience in AI/ML, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

- Strong technical background in machine learning, deep learning, and data engineering

- Deep understanding of DevOps practices and tools (Ansible, Kubernetes)

- Proven track record of leading teams to deliver complex projects

- Excellent understanding of the current AI landscape, including LLMs, reinforcement learning, and other cutting-edge techniques

- Strong business acumen and ability to translate technical concepts to business value

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

- Experience managing relationships with C-level executives and external stakeholders

- Ability to attract, retain, and develop top-tier technical talent

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment

- Background in quantitative finance or a related field

- Track record of publications or patents in AI/ML

- Network within the AI research community and financial technology sector
