Summary

Summary

Are you ready to shape the future of retail with one of Britain’s most iconic brands?

M&S is reimagining its experiences for customers and colleagues – both online and in-store. As part of that transformation, we’re looking for a curious, analytical, and collaborative UX Researcher to join our Product Design and UX Research team.

In this role, you’ll advise the product lifecycle with insights from customers and colleagues. You’ll champion evidence‑based thinking, bring clarity to ambiguity, and ensure the voice of the user is at the heart of what we design and build.

You’ll collaborate closely with Designers, Product Managers, and Data analysts to contribute insights that shape decisions which influence how our customers shop and our colleagues do their work.

We believe the best ideas come from working together. That’s why our teams spend three days a week in the office, staying close to end users and each other.

All the details

What’s in it for you

Being a part of M&S is exactly that – playing your part to bring the magic of M&S to our customers every day. We’re an inclusive, dynamic, exciting, and ever evolving business built on doing the right thing and bringing outstanding quality, value, service to every customer, whenever, wherever and however they want to shop with us.

Here are some of the benefits we offer that make working for M&S just that little bit more special…

  • After completing your probationary period, you’ll receive 20% colleague discount across all M&S products and many of our third-party brands for you and a member of your household.
  • Competitive holiday entitlement with the potential to buy extra holiday days!
  • Discretionary bonus schemes awarded based on how you achieve your personal objectives and our performance as a business.
  • A generous Defined Contribution Pension Scheme and Life Assurance.
  • A dedicated welcome to our teams with a tailored induction and a wide range of training programmes to develop your skills.
  • Amazing perks and discounts via our M&S Choices portal to maximise your financial and personal wellbeing.
  • Industry-leading parental, adoption and neonatal policies, providing support and flexibility for your family.
  • Access to a fantastic range of wellbeing support for all colleagues including access to our 24/7 Virtual GP and PAM Assist to support you and your family.
  • A charity volunteer day to support a charity or cause you're passionate about through a dedicated day away from work.
What you'll do
  • Partner with product teams to define research goals, choose appropriate methods, and involve the whole team in learning from users.
  • Plan and deliver high‑quality qualitative and quantitative research across discovery, delivery, and post-launch evaluation.
  • Use interviews, usability testing, surveys, diary studies, behavioural data, analytics, and experimentation (e.g. funnels, A/B or multivariate testing) to identify patterns, validate hypotheses, and measure impact.
  • Combine deep qualitative insight with strong quantitative analysis to help teams understand behaviour at scale.
  • Spend time in stores to collaborate directly with customers and colleagues - observing workflows and gathering real-world insights.
Who you are
  • You’re a passionate UX Researcher with experience applying research to real product decisions.
  • Happy working in ambiguity, you are energised by discovering opportunities and problems, as much as helping solving them.
  • You are confident picking and adapting research methods to suit the problem, timeframe, and context.
  • You can turn complexity and large data sets into insight and use storytelling skills to turn that impact.
  • Curious, reflective, and motivated to continuously improve your craft.
