A key part of this transformation is strengthening our data capabilities to enable fast, data-driven decision-making across the business. We are looking for a Lead Analytics Engineer to help drive this shift, ensuring our data systems are designed not just for access, but for usability and real business impact.
In this role, you will lead a team of Analytics Engineers, building curated, context-rich data models in Databricks that are optimised for reporting and insight generation. You will play a central role in making data intuitive and actionable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping elevate how data is used across Domestic & General.
Strong attention to detail is essential. You will take pride in your work and consistently deliver to a high standard.
Lead a team of Analytics Engineers to design scalable, high-performance data models supporting reporting and analytics across multiple business domains
Collaborate with Data Product Owners and Team Leads to translate business priorities into a clear and actionable data delivery roadmap
Work closely with the Data Engineering team to maximise the use of Databricks and build efficient, future-proof data pipelines
Champion engineering best practices, driving consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement across all data builds
Partner with Data Governance and cross-functional stakeholders to identify and resolve source data quality issues, building trust in data products
Embed strong governance controls in collaboration with the Data Governance team, maintaining high standards of data integrity and compliance
Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of learning, curiosity, and technical excellence
Advocate for Databricks adoption and promote its use across the organisation to unlock new data-driven insights
Extensive experience with data modelling structures and methodologies
Strong experience with at least one of the following: SQL, Python, PySpark
Solid understanding of cloud-based data lake and data warehousing technologies (Databricks experience is ideal but not essential)
Proven experience translating source data into analytically optimised data models
Ability to understand business priorities and align technical solutions accordingly
Evidence of solving multiple problems with well-designed, scalable solutions
Strong capability to break down complex projects into incremental, deliverable outcomes
Confident communication skills, working effectively with both senior and junior stakeholders
Experience prototyping and driving forward new technical initiatives
Familiarity with strong data governance principles and best practices
