To be successful as a Senior Automation Profile you should have experience with:

• Core Automation & Programming: Strong expertise in Java for building robust automation solutions. Hands‑on experience with Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber (BDD) for UI test automation. Ability to design and maintain scalable UI & API automation frameworks.

• API & Microservices Testing: Proficient in Rest Assured, Karate, Insomnia for API automation. Skilled in validating microservices-based architectures, request/response payloads, and service-level integrations.

• CI/CD & DevOps Integration: Strong working knowledge of Jenkins, Git/Bitbucket, Maven. Ability to integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.

• Test Strategy, Design & Governance: Experienced in defining end‑to‑end automation strategy, improving test coverage, reducing regression cycles. Skilled in KPI‑driven QA governance, defect leakage reduction, and reusable test asset design.

• (Consistent with governance experience noted in Profile for Lead/Senior QA Automation Engineer.)

• Performance & Non‑Functional Testing: Working knowledge of JMeter for performance benchmarking. Understanding of monitoring tools like AppDynamics to assess CPU, memory, thread, and service behavior.

• Tools, Reporting & Quality Practices: Familiar with Allure, Extent, TestNG Reports, Jira, Confluence. ​Strong debugging skills, failure triaging, and root‑cause analysis capability.

• Agile Ways of Working: Deep experience in Agile, Scrum, SAFe rituals. Close collaboration with developers, architects, and product owners for continuous quality reinforcement.

Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued (Desired):

• Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, Karate) and contract testing approaches. Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred) for test execution, environment readiness, and pipeline integration.

• Exposure to performance engineering concepts — JVM tuning basics, thread analysis, swap/memory behavior insights, and familiarity with APM tools (AppDynamics, Dynatrace). Hands‑on understanding of microservices architecture, distributed logs, and API gateway behaviors.

• Ability to design scalable, reusable automation assets, including page‑object models, API wrappers, and CI‑integrated regression packs. Knowledge of security and compliance testing aspects (PCI‑DSS, authentication/authorization flows).

• Experience working with containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes) for automation execution. Strong skills in debugging failures across UI/API layers using logs, thread dumps, and environment metrics.

• Familiarity with Observability tooling — dashboards, metrics, and automation‑triggered insights. Excellent stakeholder communication and the ability to collaborate closely with Dev, Platform, and Release teams.

This role is based in Chennai.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability. 

Accountabilities

• Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
• Creation and execution automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues.         .
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
• Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
