This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Manchester Mental Health Support Team. This university-based service is a multi-disciplinary team of Counsellors, Senior Counsellors, Mental Health Practitioners, Triage Support Practitioners and Social Prescribers providing a range of mental health support and psychological interventions for both students and staff at the University of Manchester. The overarching focus is the delivery of high quality psychological and mental health support to enhance student and staff experience.
We are seeking a highly enthusiastic individual to offer a warm, empathic and psychologically informed first point of contact with the service. You will provide effective triage and screening for mental health and/or psychological difficulties and identify appropriate interventions, ranging from guidance, direction and support in utilising on-line wellbeing resources to identifying and responding to risk and/or other serious vulnerabilities and escalating this to senior colleagues as appropriate. You will also be able to take on a small case load offering 1-1 sessions aimed at enhancing mental health and psychological wellbeing through the provision psychoeducation and other psychological interventions. You will also take responsibility for a range of administrative tasks associated with initial triage and effective service delivery including booking appointments, electronic record keeping and signposting. You will also cover reception as part of the role.
You will have relevant training/ professional qualification in counselling, psychological interventions, mental health or similar, e.g. PWP Training, IAPT Low Intensity, Counselling, APIMH, Motivational Interviewing etc. and experience of psychological and mental health screening/ assessment alongside providing mental health/wellbeing support and brief psychological interventions within a ‘front line’ psychological or mental health service or University Mental Health/ Counselling/ Wellbeing Service.
