About the role

We are looking to hire a Financial Accountant to join our team in Newbury on a hybrid basis.

You will support both the Indirect and Direct business units, with a broad range of responsibilities as follows:

Reporting

  • Completion of statutory accounts for UK subsidiary companies
  • Assistance with preparation of corporation tax returns
  • Completion of QTR VAT returns
  • Assistance in the annual R&D returns
  • Completion of ONS returns

Overseas entities

  • Oversee the management accounting and monthly reporting for a number of overseas entities
  • Document controls for overseas entities and where relevant bring polices and procedures in line with UK control environment
  • Liaise with external accountants for accounting, reporting and payroll

Governance and Control

  • Document the governance and control environment
  • Facilitate the adoption of Group level controls at  Business Unit level
  • Identify areas of control and governance weakness, help implement improvements and ensure compliance with future governance and control requirements in line with business growth

Acquisitions

  • Assist with the integration of future acquisitions
  • Maintaining month end for acquired subsidiaries until integrated and passed over to the relevant Management accounts team
  • Alignment of process, reporting, governance and controls with the subsidiary
  • Help plan and action legal entity rationalisation with external advisers 

About you

  • Experience of filing statutory company accounts
  • Ideally you are already qualified, or working towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA)
  • Audit background with strong technical knowledge and experience of Governance and Control Frameworks in listed company’s
  • Experience of UKGAAP and IFRS
  • Detailed knowledge of month end processes
  • Good time management and task prioritisation skills to ensure deadlines are met and to standard
  • A good communicator with different levels in an organisation, and to both finance and non-finance people
  • Self-driven with an ability to work on their own and as part of a team
  • Ability to be hands on with day-to-day accounting as required

  • This role is hybrid, with three days per week from our office in Newbury
