Description
As an Operational Risk and Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in driving cross‑functional safety and improvement activity across Airside and Airspace Operations, working closely with internal teams and Team Heathrow partners to promote strong safety behaviours, engagement, and continuous improvement.
The role is responsible for coordinating improvement initiatives, maintaining risk registers and incident lesson‑learned processes, supporting safety communications and engagement activities, and ensuring actions are effectively delivered, evidenced, and embedded.

Responsibilities
- Planning, coordinating, and overseeing the delivery of cross‑functional improvement initiatives, including safety behaviours, leadership, communication, and engagement, working both internally and in collaboration with Team Heathrow partners.
- Coordinating and developing improvement opportunities and research/problem statements, using data and insights gathered through observation, analysis, and performance trends.
- Ensuring improvement activity is systematically delivered, verified, evidenced, and sustained to achieve lasting impact.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of airside resilience plans and processes, including associated training and exercising activities.
- Owning and managing the end‑to‑end risk register process, incorporating horizon scanning, risk identification, and effective risk reporting.
- Owning and managing the process for capturing and tracking incident lessons learned, and supporting post‑incident analysis and reviews.
Qualifications
- Experience working within an airside environment, with a strong understanding of aerodrome procedures and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Strong interest in risk management, resilience, safety, and continual improvement, with a proactive approach to enhancing operational performance.
- Proven experience delivering change within a complex, operational environment.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation, reports, and presentations.
- A proactive and collaborative team member, demonstrating high attention to detail and accountability.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Holder of (or working towards) a recognised Health and Safety or Risk qualification.
- General understanding of project management techniques.
- Lean six sigma/CI background or experience.
- Experience using MS Power Platforms (PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI).
