The BT Mobile network is currently the best performing network in the UK, according to external benchmarking studies.

·        The IMS & Mobile Voice team is responsible for designing and capacity planning a Voice network that supports over 30 million users across 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi & Fixed telephony.

·        A Network Design Professional will have the opportunity to work across multiple technologies, from the newest IMS innovations to legacy circuit switched technology.

·        A Network Design Professional will assist the design, delivery, and support of voice services for fixed and mobile customers from Consumer and Enterprise Customer Facing Units.

·        A Network Design Professional will assist with voice platform designs, capacity management and modelling of the platforms, via Project or BAU work.

·       A Network Design Professional supports the delivery of the strategic direction of the Voice Network through interactions with Managers and Network Design Specialists.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Production and maintenance of good quality high level and low-level voice platform and service design documentation.
  • Assisting Network Design Specialists with the design of scalable voice solutions and platforms that are focused on the highest customer experience standards.
  • Representing the team as and when required on voice projects and BAU activities, contributing the team requirements and gathering information right through to launch.
  • Communicating back into the team summaries of a project scope and its requirements.
  • Monitoring voice network performance, capacities, and interfaces by using existing or the creation of reports.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of platform capacity upgrades, configuration changes, software upgrades or migration activities as needed.
  • Working closely with test and operations teams and other stakeholders across technology to ensure best stability of our solutions.
  • Providing technical input and consultancy to the team.
  • Support to the wider team with core design activities as needed

 

What I'll be doing – your accountabilities?

·    Communicating and influencing up to Senior Design and Specialist levels.

·    Producing great documentation that simply explains complex solutions.

·    Troubleshooting and low-level diagnostic ability.

·    Understanding the voice core IMS network, gaining an understanding of mobile and Fixed voice services.

·    Analytical thinking with the ability analyse and interpret data, network statistics.

·    Ability to apply network and commercial awareness to solve problems and drive solutions.

·    Delivers and designs components of end to end technical solutions based on specific requirement using standard approaches in line with the wider technical strategy or roadmap.

·    Providing in-life support for issues related to their specific solution and root cause analysis for their own designs.

·    Design of solutions that are scalable, adaptable & cost effective in line with business needs and manage the integration of the design.

Capabilities required for the job

·   Telecom’s knowledge & experience of IMS and or Circuit Switch (CS) technologies

·   Practical experience of IMS associated services VoLTE (4G) , VoWiFi, Interconnect, Fixed and 5G.

·   Knowledge and experience of SIP, Diameter, & DNS Protocols, IP Networking and use of debugging tools e.g., “Wireshark”

·   Awareness of Subscriber Provisioning processes and their associated systems.

·   Awareness of Telecom solutions based around Virtualisation, Cloud, and Containerisation.

·   Awareness of Voice Platform and their associated Software Security Skills

·   Awareness of CS & IMS Billing Knowledge & Skills.

·  Technology design - You analyse user requirements and help to design components of the architecture for software, systems and networks.

·  Systems thinking - You provide technical expertise to evaluate the impacts and links between structure, people, process and technology. You think through the whole systems context, new perspectives and insight before taking on projects.

·  Technology excellence - You build and apply insight about emerging technology to develop and deliver new digital solutions. You break complex information down into understandable language.

·  Be Agile  - You identify opportunities to use collaborative approaches and continuous improvement. You contribute to projects as a subject matter lead or content owner.

Experience you would be expected to have

·  Demonstratable experiences in voice network design roles.

·  Use of debugging tools e.g., Wireshark

·  Good communication skills that can convey technical details in a simple and easy to understand to colleagues and Senior Managers.

·  Working with multiple teams and vendors to drive network customisations to enhance features and functionality

·  Collaborating positively with others in and outside BT to drive best solutions and practices.

·  Evidence of internal networking and strong working relationships that have assisted in your roles.

·  Examples of situations where you have suggested cost savings that have been adopted and delivered.

·  Delivered results when the deliverables were unclear.

·  Examples where process/policy obstacles were hindering delivery and how they were overcome.
