Java Developer

Join Barclays as a Java Developer and play a key role in building and enhancing APIs and microservices within the Credit Cards, Electronic Payments, Lending, and Current & Savings Accounts domains. As part of a collaborative feature team, you’ll contribute to a wide range of projects supporting business logic through a portfolio of over 170 domain-based APIs. You’ll help deliver scalable, efficient, and robust solutions that ensure smooth data flow to upstream systems. The team works with both Java 8 and Java 21, offering the opportunity to engage with modern technologies in a dynamic and evolving environment. 

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

• Strong hands-on experience in Java 8, with solid understanding of core concepts and object-oriented programming.
• Proficiency in building applications using Spring Framework, including modules such as Spring Boot and Spring MVC.
• Experience with unit testing using JUnit to ensure high-quality, testable code.

Other highly valued skills include:

• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI Specification (OAS) or RAML for designing and documenting APIs.
• Working knowledge of Java 21.
