Role purpose

The Data Analytics role in the collections strategy team exists to harness data to improve collections performance, enhance customer experience, and drive positive benefits to the P&L.  This role is responsible for analysing large volumes of data to uncover actionable insights that inform business decisions to enhance the collection strategy and identify risks and opportunities.

 

This position will play a critical role in shaping and executing the collections strategy within the Fraud, Integrity and Risk Excellence Department, driving value through insightful analytics which can be used to drive change.

 

Key responsibilities and account abilities

·        

Deliver clear data driven recommendations to the collections strategy teams

·       Analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and outliers

·       Perform exploratory and statistical analysis to support business hypotheses 

·       Business support and decision making, translating business questions into analytical problems and deliver data driven solutions.

·       Provide ad hoc analysis and insight to support strategic initiatives and KPI's

·        

Build predictive models to forecast impacts to churn and bad debt losses

·       Forecasting of monthly and annual churn to help support the commercial teams deliver net add growth

·       Support of finance teams to understand future bad debt performance focussing on debt buckets and roll rates

·       Model bad debt write off and recovery streams working with inhouse aged debt reporting and debt collection agencies performance data

·        

Design and develop dashboards and visual reports using tools like Power BI, Tableau.

·       Support the automation of regular reporting requirements across operational teams

·       Development of new tableau self serve reporting and dashboards to help manage monthly performance

·       Development of key performance indicators reporting for Sarbanes Oxley controls

·       Identify key gaps in reporting to support collections performance reviews

·        

Adhere to data governance , security and privacy policies

·        

Collaborate with data democratisation teams understanding new data streams and tools to align with data use across the business

·       Work directly with data teams across the business to validate data quality and accuracy

·       Identify data improvement opportunities through external sources and/or tools

·       Gather, clean and validate data from multiple sources to ensure data quality and integrity for consistent analytical purposes

Work closely with other teams across FIRE (Fraud & Credit Risk) to understand journeys and processes which may impact collections performance

·        

Support the strategy business partner to make timely and informed decisions

·       Enhancement of the customer journey

·       Improve the collections journey

·       Deliver timely BAU activity

 

Essential knowledge, skills and experience

·        

Proven experience in data analytics: demonstrable experience of data mining and analysis using analytical tools to deliver meaningful insight

·        

Commercial and analytical acumen: Able to interpret performance data, drive insight.

·        

Regulatory experience: Understanding of regulatory environment, critically FCA and consumer duty. Experience with regulatory reporting, regulator interactions and interpreting new requirements through horizon scanning.

·        

Understanding of collections activity and strategies : Appreciation and experience of how a collections strategy team operates and works directly with the operational teams.

·        

Influencing People & Managing Relationships: Good influencing and relationship building skills with experience in collaborating across different.

·        

Communication: Strong communication skills, able to manage and report on complex issues clearly and credibly with diverse audiences

·        

Solving Problems: Strong ability to find creative, high impact, high feasibility solutions using data effectively and making timely, pragmatic data-driven decisions in the face of ambiguous or conflicting situations

Strategic thinker: ability to balance commercial outcomes with customer and conduct priorities.

Accountability: Creates a strong culture of accountability, by role modelling, and holding others to account, exercising radical candour and maintaining respect and dignity in relationships with others

 

Key stakeholder influences

Wider leadership in the Fraud, Integrity and Risk Excellence Department and operational areas. Internal relationships with other data analytics teams and data democratisation.
