JOB DESCRIPTION

As a leader who wants to influence the future of technology, you can grow your impact by joining a world-renowned financial institution. In this role, you’ll shape cybersecurity architecture at scale—setting direction, guiding teams, and partnering across engineering and control functions to build secure, modern platforms.

As a Director of Cybersecurity Architecture at JPMorganChase within Cybersecurity Technology and Controls, you’ll lead a defined architecture area and drive outcomes across teams, technologies, and initiatives. You’ll use strong architecture and security expertise—plus practical product thinking—to make key decisions, modernize controls, and improve how risk is identified and addressed.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead major technology and process implementations to deliver architecture outcomes across your domain.
  • Set the strategy and operating model for developing cybersecurity architects’ skills and career growth.
  • Own decisions that impact team resourcing, budget, and execution priorities across initiatives.
  • Provide governance for architecture decisions, including coding/control obligations and measures like maintainability and total cost of ownership.
  • Define your function’s objectives and be accountable for measurable outcomes.
  • Own staffing and budget responsibilities, including relevant financial accountability.
  • Champion an inclusive culture and prioritize diverse representation across hiring and team development.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in security concepts, plus 10+ years of applied experience in cybersecurity or identity and access management (IAM).
  • Experience leading teams of architects designing cybersecurity solutions for cloud-based platforms and applications.
  • Depth in at least one IAM domain (IGA, Authentication/Authorization, PAM, or Cloud IAM) to guide technical discussions and support architects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including influencing engineering partners without formal authority.
  • Experience working in regulated environments (SOX, PCI-DSS, NYDFS) and partnering with compliance/audit stakeholders.
  • Experience building cybersecurity products and solutions for public cloud applications and infrastructure.
  • Experience developing and leading cross-functional technology teams.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in security architecture and/or threat modeling; able to understand and guide assessment work.
  • Background across multiple IAM domains to enable cross-domain leadership.
