At EMIS we are looking to bolster our talented and knowledgeable team with even more expertise with a new leading DevOps Engineer.

You will be building the EMIS-X Analytics platform which solves problems to give GPs and other healthcare professionals easier and simpler access to the analytical data.  Being the technical leadership for a sub team you will own the DevOps function for a product stream.

What you’ll do

 

As our Expert DevOps Engineer you will work closely with agile development teams across technology to define and implement technical & engineering solutions, as well as infrastructure, architecture, automation, and operational processes.

Having responsibility for maintaining the platform and supporting a sub team, a good chunk of your role will see you build, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, defining code, and enhancing the reliability, availability, and scalability of our products.

Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

  • Helping to lead the development of infrastructure code 
  • Defining Cloud Infrastructure and engineering solutions with Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK/ARM
  • Provide technical and strategic feedback on projects that leads to changes and improved outcomes
  • Develop and maintain new projects in a stack where the technologies and solutions will evolve over time
  • Be proactive in your approach to taking ownership of problems, driving forward solutions and escalating where appropriate
  • We want you to be an advocate for DevOps and promote our culture with the team and wider organisation, being and SME when needed

 

Who you’ll be

  • You will be an experienced DevOps Engineer with great knowledge of working with cloud technologies, ideally AWS!
  • Much of this role will involve stakeholder engagement and peer interaction across multiple teams, therefore you need to be able to build trusted and credible working relationships and collaborative effectively with others.
  • Ability to work with complexity and at times under pressure, whilst creating an environment of open and honest communication is key.
  • Someone with a good understanding of software architecture practices
  • Someone that can lead / mentor people within a small team.

 

Technical skills and experience we are looking for you to demonstrate include;

  • Extensive cloud infrastructure and solution design experience
  • Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK or ARM
  • Significant experience of using CI/CD technologies like Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild/CodePipeline
  • Orchestration technologies; Ansible, Puppet, etc
