Job Title:  Electro-Magnetic Compatibility Engineer

Location:  Scotstoun- We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £60,000 dependent on skills and experience

  

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Providing support in pursuit of project objectives, undertaking technical work activities within a systems engineering context
  • Engaging with Internal and External stakeholders; i.e. Engineering teams, Technical Authorities, Production Staff, Procurement Teams, Suppliers and Customers to discuss technical issues and problems and to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied and emergent problems/issues are mitigated accordingly
  • Inspections on ship to assure design is correctly implemented at ship to meet requirements
  • Preparing and conducting Harbour & Sea Trials, assessing results and production of reports as well as technical report writing
  • Support the Type 26 Electromagnetic Environmental Effects and Topside Team to ensure verification and validation of EEE (Electromagnetic Environmental Effects) design rules and policy implementation into the Platform

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of principles of electromagnetics
  • Knowledge and experience of the application of Risk Based EMC within a defence environment
  • Previous experience of operating within a technical team with the ability to provide coaching and mentoring to others within the team to support their development
  • Experience of physical and functional integration of combat systems equipment in a defence environment

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience of Def Stan 59-411
  • Understanding of Systems engineering design lifecycle within a defence environment

Candidates at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Type 26 EEE & Topside Team:

As part of this role you will be a part of our Type 26 EEE & Topside team which is a technical team that works across the lifecycle of the programme. The team work within Combat Systems Department and have Wholeship requirements for Electromagnetics Environmental Effects. The team risk assesses the Platform at a System level, assures the Type 26 design is implemented in build and then undertake practical testing to meet customer requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to play your part in delivering the UK Royal Navy’s most complex warships. As Type 26 first of class, HMS Glasgow, prepares to begin the fitting out phase of construction you will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge, with the potential to lead into more senior positions within the discipline or global business.
