Director of Software Engineering

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking organization, you will lead a critical technical domain and promote impact across teams, technologies, and cross-functional initiatives. You will leverage deep expertise in software engineering, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex programs from conception through delivery, acting as the primary technical decision maker for your teams. In this role, you will champion innovation, set engineering standards and best practices, and ensure the delivery of scalable, high-quality solutions that advance business objectives and enhance customer experiences.

Job responsibilities

• Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
• Makes decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
• Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
• AI First thinking and guiding teams through adoption and acceleration
• Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
• Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
• Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition,  5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise

• Experience in software development using java, spring boot, APIs, microservices, streaming applications.
• Good experience in managing and leading teams
• Hands on of experience in developing cloud native applications in public and private could (AWS/Azure/GAIA) 
• Expertise in developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent

• Experience in collaboration and influencing in making decisions with product partner

• Experience in providing technical guidance, mentoring teams and ability to lead teams through fast pace and ambiguous situations.

• Experience working at code level
• CoPilot/Agenetic AI/Claude
• Leading and mentoring teams.
