We are an international company who works with some of the worlds most respected and well-known brands of domestic appliances and electronic consumer goods. These opportunities don’t come around often, so this really is a position not to be missed.

About the role

D&G (Domestic & General) is an ambitious technology-powered company transforming from a “traditional, largely manual IT department with strong ITIL processes” to a “modern, highly automated, product-led, DevSecOps technology powered insurance business.”

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Reliability Engineer with a strong focus on Azure cloud services to join our IT Cloud and Infrastructure Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of our cloud-based infrastructure, developing automation solutions, and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC). As a key member of our team, you will leverage your expertise in PowerShell and Python scripting to maintain system performance, automate workflows, and facilitate continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).

As a team player, you will be expected to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals. You should also be able to work independently in support of team and organisational objectives. Your communication skills should be excellent, both in writing and orally, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and concisely. Additionally, you should have a strong attention to detail, take pride in your work, and ensure that it is always of the highest standard.

  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Azure Bicep to ensure reproducible and scalable environments.

  • Implement the use of software tools such as Ansible to automate IT infrastructure tasks such as system management and application monitoring.

  • Collaborate with CCOE team to incorporate DevOps principles and practices.

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal system reliability and uptime.

  • Enhance and maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines for efficient release and deployment processes.

  • Participate in on-call rotations, providing expert-level support for incident management and problem resolution.

  • Document system design, processes, and procedures, ensuring knowledge is shared and best practices are followed.

  • Drive the adoption of chaos engineering practices to ensure the resilience of systems by planning and executing controlled experiments.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending improvements and innovations to our cloud infrastructure.

  • Contribute to the development of disaster recovery plans and participate in DR testing.
