HR Business Partner - US & Canada
Location: Austin, TX
Department: People Operations
Reports to: Chief People Officer
Who We Are
Scale Computing is a global leader in edge computing, hyperconverged infrastructure, and managed networking solutions. We deliver innovative, secure, and scalable technology that powers critical operations worldwide.
What We’re Looking For
Scale Computing is seeking an HR Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees across our US and Canadian operations. This is not a traditional HR role. We’re looking for someone who brings sharp data analytics skills, a genuine enthusiasm for AI tools like Claude Cowork, and the strategic mindset to connect people insights to business outcomes. You will embed yourself in the business, build strong relationships across teams, and use data and technology to elevate every aspect of the employee experience.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for assigned business units in the US and Canada, building trusted relationships with managers and employees at all levels.
- Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, change management, and team effectiveness initiatives.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on performance management, compensation decisions, and employee development.
- Translate business strategy into people priorities and bring HR programs to life in a way that resonates with each team.
AI-Powered Work — Claude Cowork
- Actively use Claude Cowork to automate and accelerate day-to-day HR workflows — including drafting communications, summarizing employee feedback, building templates, and generating first-pass policy documents.
- Champion AI adoption within the People Ops team, serving as an internal resource for how AI tools can improve HR productivity and quality.
- Identify manual or repetitive HRBP processes that can be streamlined using Claude Cowork or other AI-assisted tools, and lead their implementation.
Data Analytics & People Insights
- Own HR data analysis for your business unit population: build and maintain dashboards tracking headcount, attrition, engagement, performance trends, and compensation equity.
- Deliver regular people analytics reports to business leaders, translating workforce metrics into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Partner with the People Ops Manager to contribute to cross-company workforce reporting for senior leadership and board-level presentations.
- Use data proactively to identify patterns before they become problems.
US & Canada HR Operations
- Manage the full employee lifecycle for US and Canadian employees: onboarding, performance management, leave administration, compensation changes, and offboarding.
- Navigate Canada-specific employment requirements including provincial labor standards, statutory benefits, and termination protocols across provinces.
- Working knowledge of payroll and benefits to ensure accurate processing across Paylocity.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation across applicable US states and Canadian provinces, escalating compliance risks as needed.
- Support the administration of US benefits (health, dental, 401k) and Canadian equivalents, serving as an employee resource during open enrollment and life events.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Serve as the first point of escalation for employee relations matters, conducting fair and thorough investigations and recommending appropriate resolutions.
- Partner with managers to build inclusive, high-performing team cultures through proactive engagement and clear communication.
- Administer engagement surveys and pulse checks, analyzing results and facilitating action planning sessions with leadership.
- Support DEI initiatives and ensure hiring, promotion, and compensation practices reflect Scale Computing’s commitment to equity.
What You Bring:
Must Haves

- 4+ years of HR Business Partner or HR generalist experience, with direct exposure to both US and Canadian employment environments.
- Demonstrated data analytics skills - you build your own reports, work comfortably in Excel or Google Sheets, and can turn HR data into a story that influences decisions.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools (Claude Cowork, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or similar) as a regular part of your workflow — not just a passing familiarity.
- Working knowledge of Canadian provincial employment law (Ontario, British Columbia, or Alberta preferred) and US federal/state employment regulations.
