As a senior member of the proposal team, the RFP Senior Specialist owns the end to end proposal lifecycle for complex, high profile opportunities, partnering closely with sales and subject matter experts to deliver compelling, competitive responses. This role is responsible for producing high quality RFP, RFI, DDQ, and consultant database submissions that incorporate deep industry expertise and clearly articulate Vanguard’s value proposition. In addition to individual contribution, the Senior Specialist serves as a trusted advisor and coach, elevating proposal quality through best practices, content development, and mentorship of peers. The role plays a critical part in building and maintaining scalable, evergreen content through effective use of technology, AI, and the proposal knowledgebase. This role is designed for an experienced proposal professional who is ready to operate with a high degree of autonomy, influence proposal strategy, and elevate the performance of others.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum of 5 years of corporate experience in proposal management, sales, sales support, marketing, or project management
At least 2 years of hands‑on experience responding to RFPs, RFIs, and due diligence questionnaires
Exceptional persuasive writing, editing, and project management skills
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and tailor messaging for diverse audiences
Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
Experience using RFP knowledgebase or proposal management software
Practical experience leveraging artificial intelligence tools in the proposal process
Strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and professional presence
APMP certification
Undergraduate degree required
Preferred
Experience in retirement planning and recordkeeping
Experience working with external consulting firms
Master’s degree
