Managing Sponsor

Description

This role sits within Heathrow’s Development team and focuses on achieving clear programme outcomes and benefits. As Managing Sponsor, you will represent sponsorship on a day‑to‑day basis within one or more development programmes, helping ensure agreed outcomes are delivered and sustained once changes move into everyday operations.

The role bridges business priorities with programme delivery. It ensures benefits are clearly defined, tracked and realised, while supporting smooth transition into Business As Usual.

Responsibilities

• Define, track, monitor and report programme benefits across the programme(s) lifecycle.
• Represent sponsorship within programme leadership, keeping decisions aligned to agreed outcomes.
• Enable effective governance by supporting timely decisions, approvals and assurance activities.
• Identify and address risks, constraints or trade‑offs that could affect outcomes or benefit delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience working within programme or project sponsorship in a complex, regulated environment.
• Practical experience defining, tracking and realising benefits across a programme lifecycle.
• Understanding of programme governance, assurance and decision‑making frameworks.
• Experience supporting business change, operational readiness or transition to Business As Usual.
• Ability to present complex information clearly to support informed decisions.
• Experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

• Familiarity with recognised programme or project frameworks.
• Experience within large‑scale infrastructure or operational environments.
