About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Radiological Protection / Health Physics Specialist in the Nuclear Control Team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to support the commissioning, management and operation of our new alpha radionuclide research facility and will lead on enabling the smooth implementation of radiological protection compliance. You will report directly to the Nuclear Laboratory Control Manager (NLCM) collaborating with other team members with expertise in Safety, Environmental, Security, Programme Coordination, and with the associated Academic and Technical teams within a dynamic and inclusive environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Radiological Safety
  • Monitoring and Maintenance
  • Emergency response

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • Knowledge and experience in managing dose monitoring, sampling and contamination monitoring, contamination containment systems, and developing radiological risk assessments.
  • A degree (or equivalent) or relevant suitable experience.
  • Experience in radiological protection roles (e.g. RPS, radiation monitor, health physics surveyor).
  • In depth knowledge of the IRR17 and relevant legislation.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Direct experience working with glovebox operations, decontamination, and ingestion/inhalation hazards.
  • Technical qualification in Radiation Protection.
  • Experienced in radionuclide laboratories.
  • Ability to make judgement decisions across a broad range of technical disciplines.
