The Credit Risk Oversight organization within Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) is responsible for independently overseeing and challenging the company’s credit risk taking and credit risk management activities, including the comprehensive identification, management, and mitigation of credit risks within the company’s risk appetite.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional for credit risk governance who has experience / prior experience as a credit risk examiner / regulator. Responsibilities for this role include governance, reporting & analytics, working with stakeholders across the enterprise, and regulatory & internal audit support.

The incumbent will report to the Director, Global Credit Risk Oversight.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Governance:
    • Identify opportunity areas through gap analysis against regulatory guidance and credit risk examiner handbooks
    • Maintain Credit Risk Management Policy
    • Maintain credit risk standards, procedures (in collaboration with functional team) and templates (e.g., reports, MEMO etc.)
    • Ensure adherence to credit risk board approved plan and findings resolution
    • Conduct QC checks on 2LOD review reports
  • Reporting & Analytics:
    • Support in the creation of the quarterly Credit Risk Memo
    • MIS reporting to partner teams (e.g., findings tracker)
    • Perform ad-hoc analytics and reporting on credit risk findings (e.g., finding themes etc.)
  • Internal Audit, Regulatory, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Support:
    • Coordinate with functional team on IAG and regulatory requests
    • Coordinate and prepare meeting materials for quarterly interagency meeting
    • Matters Requiring Attention (MRA) and regulatory recommendation remediation
    • Engage with stakeholders across line of defenses to ensure program consistency with enterprise-wise guidelines and respond to stakeholder inquiries related to risk governance

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience at a bank regulatory agency (e.g., OCC, Federal Reserve, FDIC) reviewing/examining credit risk practices
  • Prior experience as a credit risk examiner, loan portfolio manager, or in closely supporting loan portfolio managers
  • Bachelor’s degree in management or science (statistics, engineering, decision science, finance, economics, or closely related fields)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint skills
  • Able to demonstrate strong knowledge of credit risk and financial risk management
  • Outstanding multi-tasking and project management skills as well as strong teamwork aptitude to work with colleagues and stakeholders across various AXP offices globally
  • Extremely high attention to detail, self-starter and enthusiastic attitude
  • Self-confident with a strong sense of integrity and the ability and willingness to challenge and be challenged
  • Ability to communicate oversight findings to credit risk peers, business partners, and senior executives

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree such as M.S. and Ph.D. (in statistics, finance, economics, or closely related fields); or MBA is a plus
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to clearly articulate or interpret technical documents, regulatory guidelines, and complex project requirements in a concise manner to various stakeholders

Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
