Job Description:

Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer (Integration) to work on a high-profile project for the UK MOD. The Senior Systems Engineer (Integration) will join the Combat Air business group in a role within the Systems Engineering team will provide exposure to a wide-variety of Electronic Warfare (EW) products and subject-matter experts within domain, product, and technology fields. The Integration/Systems Engineer will contribute their knowledge and experience to the system integration, test, verification, validation and trials activities, to support the agreed project milestones. The role inherently requires a strong aptitude for problem solving and managing multiple system interdependencies across a number of Leonardo business groups.

What you will do

• Teamwork: You will work alongside like-minded professional engineers in a highly collaborative environment.
• Manage day-to-day tasking of more junior engineers supporting Integration activities:
• Opportunity to develop mentoring and coaching skills and lead sub-system level testing and evaluation in a laboratory environment.
• Produce / document / analyse test data.
• Supporting engineering design reviews, in particular test readiness
• Achieving acceptance / certification from relevant design authorities.
•  Provision of sub-system functional knowledge to direct system testing.
•  Ensuring evidence accumulation from System-level activity.
• Support to the definition and undertaking of system acceptance test procedures.
• Deriving interface / functional design requirements.
• Supporting software/hardware teams with development of low-level functionality.
•  Engaging with customer network to ensure cohesion and suitability of integration activities and timelines.
• Supporting development of the overall system trials strategy.

What we are looking for

• A solid foundation in a relevant technical domain, exploited in an airborne (ideally EW) systems context / application.
• Experience of performing IV&V activities, including authoring test plans, procedures and reports.
• Demonstrable experience in writing and reviewing high-quality technical documentation.
• Experience of engineering gate reviews and the associated assessment of design compliance.
• Ability to cope with a high degree of design complexity and significant levels of uncertainty.
• Experience of supporting design / delivery teams to develop complex, technical solutions in accordance with plans and processes.
• Self-motivated with an aptitude for problem solving and driving difficult issues to conclusion.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Experience of working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders of varying seniorities.
• Ability to obtain SC Clearance for UK-caveated programmes.

• Experience with product design and test standards for military systems.
• Experience of Synthetic Environments and their use in developing the overall engineering solution.
