Our incubation team builds and experiments directly with start-ups, helping them turn their ideas into products and building viable businesses around them.
About the Role:
As a Senior Developer at Geovation you’ll be at the core of what differentiates Geovation from other start-up support programmes. You will deliver technical work as part of the Incubation team, working with start-ups to help them get the most value out of location data. You’ll be helping entrepreneurs break new ground in the way geospatial data is used by working closely with and building their technology teams at the early stages of their business.
In this role, you will:
Join existing start-up teams within the community to help them develop proof of concept (POC) trials using your knowledge to experiment in developing pragmatic solutions that maximise value while keeping costs and technical debt to a minimum.
Deliver 1-1 technical clinics, and other learning and coaching support to both technical and non-technical founders on a diverse range of technical topics including help on the best ways to use location data
Be an advocate for the power of location data and the impact that start-ups have on creating new markets and industries for OS data and work with our partners to help this happen
Be a key part of making the Geovation Hub is a vibrant creative place to work and a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and well-maintained space for members and visitors. This includes involvement in events and activation as well as some formal Fire, health & safety responsibilities for the Geovation Hub, and ad-hoc tasks required as part of a small team running a busy coworking space.

You’ll need to demonstrate:
Significant experience developing solutions in the technical domain, including experience working with:
Modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Typescript etc
Cloud stacks such as AWS, GCP or Azure;
Building solutions that use geospatial data, geospatial data tooling and standardised geospatial data formats ideally including the OGC standards
You embrace lean and agile methodologies and can apply agile best practices when working with start-ups.
You enjoy helping others and can excel at translating complex technical information for non-technical entrepreneurs in a calm, professional and supportive manner
A proactive approach, desire and ability to be part of a flexible, small team that collaborates to achieve joint goals, regardless of the exact work to be done to support the whole Geovation team in the running of an active community and busy London co-working space.

Location:
The role is based at Geovation with a minimum of 3 full days in the Geovation Hub to provide direct support to startups working from the hub
There may also be specific needs to be present in the Geovation Hub as part of Fire, Health and Safety responsibilities – which may affect hours required in the Hub.
