About the role

We are looking for an experienced IT services delivery professional to join our busy and influential Advice Team. Along with your familiarity of infrastructure technologies, you will be conversant in IT service management and governance frameworks. As such, along with your extensive technical knowledge, a good understanding of ITIL, Cyber Essentials, ISO27001 and disaster recovery planning will be an advantage. We want you to bring an open-minded collaborative approach to supporting IT professionals to help shape the advice and guidance Jisc provides to its members across the nations of the UK.

 

As one of our infrastructure subject specialists, you will have broad experience of the delivery of IT technical support services across a large organisation and knowledge of the strategic alignment of IT services in support of corporate objectives. Experience of the delivery of IT technical services in a Further or Higher education setting will be a distinct advantage.

 

Key responsibilities and deliverables

·       Delivery of our Infrastructure Review service and other support offers to our members.

·       Create and publish regular blogs and other digital media materials relating to digital infrastructure, contributing to the wider conversation in the sector.

·       Understand the issues and challenges that IT managers and technical support staff are facing

·       Participate in planning, designing and delivering workshops, webinars, and training sessions for both online and face to face delivery

·       Develop, promote, and engage with relevant online community groups and other forums, seeding discussion topics and responding to queries etc.

 

Experience

Need to have

·       Extensive IT technical support service delivery experience in a large or medium organisation

·       Deployment and management of digital communication networks (wired and wireless technologies)

 

Nice to have

·       Experience of working in HE, FE, or public sector settings.

·       Hyper-V or VMware

·       Firewall and digital security technologies

·       Cyber Essentials

·       Public and private cloud services

·       IOS27001

·       ITIL

 

Skills & personal qualities

Need to have

·       Write effective concise reports to accurately reflect discussions and making recommendations for positive change  

·       Able to discriminate and assimilate important information and to disseminate this effectively to customers and colleagues.

·       Make sound judgement and advise appropriately.

·       Communicate clearly and accessibly through text and face to face

 

Nice to have

·       Respond to quickly changing organisational and sector priorities.

 

Qualifications & training (if applicable)

Need to have

·       For this post demonstrable practical knowledge and skills relating to the areas mentioned above will take precedence

 

 Nice to have

·       Degree or post-graduate qualification in a related field.
