In this role, you'll be a Senior Solution Architect Manager defining the architecture for a transforming technology platform, across both BSS and OSS, underpinning the Emergency Services Network. You'll be responsbile responsible for defining and maintaining the E2E solution and technical roadmap spanning network, systems, process and 3rd party solutions. You'll also lead a small team of Engineers, who will input into your authoritative technical recommendations to commercial decisions on new and emerging areas, that balance deliverable commitments, unit strategic decisions on software engineering, and operational performance.
What you’ll be doing
- Apply specialist expertise to deliver technical work that is typically unique, complex, and high impact across multiple domains and/or requiring both breadth and depth of domain knowledge.
- Serves as technical expert and consultant to resolve complex and strategic issues, across wider industry and/or specific sectors, and develop bespoke or leading edge, technically complex solutions (e.g., relating to new, untested technology and/or large scale impact of products).
- Provide direction and strategy to define product roadmaps within domain of expertise in a highly ambiguous, complex and multi-vendor technical environment.
- Share knowledge and thought leadership to advance team’s thinking, guide technical decisions and provide strategic level recommendations on high profile customer solutions.
- Represent BT’s technical capabilities to internal and external stakeholders (including customers, vendors and suppliers) at senior levels and provide consultation.
- Drive team’s understanding of customer and user centric technical process design, driving and implementing improvements to enhance the customer and user experience.
- Manage stakeholder relationships (senior customers, vendors, suppliers) and facilitate mutually beneficial negotiations to develop solutions, ensuring they meet current and emerging business and technical needs.
- Lead on Technology transformation as a lever to transform BT’s commercial performance and operational efficiency.
- Partner organisations at Account Manager level.
Experience you'll have
- Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)
- Stakeholder Management: Able to develop close relationships with senior customers/vendors/suppliers to facilitate negotiations and manage major escalations.
- Technical Knowledge: Can give comprehensive & technical specialised advice on emerging new Technologies. Provide guidance and counsel on complex and unfamiliar situations and leverage other experts to develop solutions.
- Hold others to account: Ability to demand high ethical standards and values-led behaviours, ensuring the same understanding in their extended team. Able to call out misaligned or poor behaviours
- Be agile: Able to lead on collaborative and agile ways of working through projects and programmes, effectively managing changing priorities.
- Software Development Concepts: Proficiency with the use of a wide range of programming concepts, including (but not limited to): recursion, multi-threading, memory management, and garbage collection. Aware of and has applied a range of algorithms, for example, related to sorting and searching.
- Change Management: Experience in transforming solution design & delivery to improve quality & cost, and being able to identify and prove concepts for future technology.
