Purpose of role
The Technical Product Ownership sub-family focuses on the technical aspects of product development,
delivery, and maintenance. Roles within this sub-family are responsible for defining and managing the
technical specifications, architecture, and performance of products and platforms. They act as the
bridge between technical teams and product delivery, ensuring that technical solutions align with
business objectives and meet scalability, performance, and security standards.
This sub-family emphasizes technical leadership, including the evaluation of system architecture,
management of technical debt, and oversight of API integrations and infrastructure needs. This sub-
family also supports innovation by identifying and implementing emerging technologies to enhance the
technical capabilities of products and platforms.
Main responsibility of role
Manage the technology supporting our marketing technology platforms, covering the roadmap, backlog
management, releases, adoption and production KPIs, working with senior business stakeholders and
product owners to ensure overall alignment with the business and Technology strategy.
Lead the planning and management of change across the platforms, working with the other teams
across the Commercial Tower, as well as with the Hotels and Restaurants Tower, and the Infrastructure,
Security and Operations teams, whether system or configuration-related, that drives value across
Whitbread as a whole.
Ensure that requirements are accurately defined, and that implementation is scheduled and delivered in
a timely and efficient manner, whether through internal or 3rd party resources.
Manage the relationships with the key suppliers across support, development and future development.
Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure the platform meets high standards of
reliability and performance.
Provide technical guidance and leadership to the development team, ensuring best practices in coding,
architecture, and deployment.
Ensure the security and resilience of our key platforms and that all code and configuration is to the
appropriate standard and compliance.
Drive the continuous improvement of the platform and operations to drive the cost of ownership of the
platform, including costs impact on other towers across technology.
