Product Owner – Data Products (T3)

Location: Hybrid – Flexible across the UK (with occasional travel to Cox Automotive Manchester & Leeds offices)

About the Role

As a Product Owner in the Data Products team, you will be the voice of the customer and business within agile delivery teams. You will translate strategic product goals into actionable backlog items, prioritise development work, and ensure data products deliver measurable value across Cox Automotive UK’s brands and partners.

Working closely with data engineering, analytics, and commercial stakeholders, you’ll help deliver products that provide meaningful insight and support smarter decision-making across the automotive ecosystem.

Backlog Ownership & Delivery

• Own, support and maintain the product backlog for assigned data products across multiple business areas
• Write clear, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Prioritise backlog items based on customer value, technical dependencies, and business goals.
• Ensure and support the team in delivering high-quality, valuable increments in each sprint.

Collaboration & Alignment

• Work closely with the Senior Product Manager to translate product vision and strategy into delivery plans.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and QA teams to ensure successful implementation.
• Partner with stakeholders across brands (Manheim, RMS, Codeweavers, eVA) to gather feedback and refine requirements.

Data & Technical Understanding

• Understand data pipelines, APIs, and data structures to effectively communicate with technical teams.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and usability requirements are clearly defined.
• Support data platform enhancements, dashboards, and insight delivery.

Stakeholder Communication

• Act as the key liaison supporting business and technical teams.
• Communicate priorities, sprint progress, and key outcomes to stakeholders.
• Gather and analyse feedback to continuously improve product features and user experience.

Continuous Improvement

• Use metrics and customer feedback to refine backlog priorities.
• Identify opportunities to streamline delivery and enhance product value.
• Support retrospectives and agile ceremonies to improve team performance.


About You

Qualification / Skill Area

Requirements

Experience

• 2–5 years’ experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Junior Product Manager.
• Experience delivering data, analytics, or platform-based products in an agile environment.
• Previous automotive, marketplace, or SaaS experience beneficial.

Technical Understanding

• Strong familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g. AWS, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Working knowledge of APIs, data pipelines, and BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Comfortable engaging with engineers and analysts to translate business needs into technical stories.

Agile Delivery

• Experience working in Scrum or Kanban teams.
• Skilled in backlog management, sprint planning, and stakeholder prioritisation.
• Strong understanding of agile ceremonies and product delivery cycles.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communicator, able to bridge business and technical conversations.
• Detail-oriented, organised, and proactive.
• Passionate about using data to solve real-world problems and deliver customer value.
