Job Title: Machine Learning Engineer (2553)

We’re seeking Machine Learning Engineers to become an integral part of our transversal Data team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming and modernising our machine learning platform. In this dynamic position, you’ll collaborate across the organisation to define and implement MLOps best practices, while taking charge of designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure, essential for the development and deployment of machine learning models. Working closely with data scientists, data engineers, solution engineers, and other stakeholders, you’ll ensure the seamless integration of machine learning models into our production systems, driving innovation and excellence within AXA UK.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Transform offline models into a robust production system with deployment, including data management, feature engineering, monitoring, performance management, automation, and orchestration.

  • Build and enhance reusable tools and modelling pipelines, fostering knowledge sharing across teams.

  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing through internal and external communities and working groups.

  • Develop reliable, scalable machine learning pipelines on Azure Databricks.

  • Design workflows with MLFlow for the effective development, deployment, and monitoring of ML models.

  • Stay updated on advancements in MLOps, LLMOps, Azure, and Databricks, identifying opportunities to improve ML capabilities.

  • Work on pioneering projects that leverage data analytics and AI to revolutionise our business operations.

  • Contribute to the development of robust MLOps and LLMOps frameworks that will enhance our capabilities and drive value across AXA.

  • Play a pivotal role in enhancing decision-making processes through automation and advanced analytics.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in building and operating machine learning models.

  • Formal qualification or degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field.

  • Demonstratable understanding of regulatory standards and best practices in data handling and management.

  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python.

  • Practical experience with Azure Databricks, showcasing expertise in managing data pipelines and performing data transformations.

  • Experience with multiple technologies and frameworks such as PySpark, Azure Cloud Platform, and Azure ML.

  • Skilled in software development practices, with hands-on experience in DevOps, MLOps, and microservices architecture.

  • Ability to confidently communicate data project developments and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
