Job Description

You’ll be joining one of our Customer Experience teams, dedicated to building high-quality, engaging and exciting user experiences, and the services and data ecosystem that support them. We are mobile-first and data-driven, and function under a product operating model, meaning you’ll have close interactions with our product managers and designers to create the best shopping experiences for our customers.

This role is for a Senior QA Engineer in the Personalised Curation and Content PDT.  We believe every customer should feel seen, respected, and understood, and our core principles are to deliver powerful, playful, immediate experiences littered with sparks of inspiration that provide customer benefits, whilst maintaining data transparency and acting with integrity.  In short, we want to deliver an ASOS just for you.  You'll be helping to create these experiences that harness explicit signals from customers and blend them with our world-class in-house data science offerings driven by customer behaviour.

What you will be doing

  • Working as part of an agile team to design and deliver high-quality software against the business requirements that matter most to our customers.
  • Supporting our services at hyper-scale through critical trading periods.
  • Coordinating with teams across ASOS to ensure that Customer Experience as a whole is a key consideration in organisation-wide initiatives.
  • Learning new things and always striving to develop your skills through our Tech Develops days and hackathons.
  • Contributing to the wider engineering community through our working groups, sharing your knowledge, and helping to drive improvements across all of engineering.

Qualifications

About You

  • You’ll have experience with some of the tooling listed below, but an appreciation that a tool can only take you so far.
  • You have a wide array of experience in the testing field, with APIs, Databases, Service Bus, Microservices.
  • You’ve worked with and potentially built out automation frameworks and understand the value that they bring in tandem with strong testing and engineering practices.
  • You’re able to talk through the Application Architecture explaining how risk is mitigated through the testing processes.
  • As a passionate Senior QA Engineer you’ve played an integral part in an Agile team working closely with Engineers and all stakeholders.

Your experience

  • At least 5 years of software development, delivering production code in an Agile environment.
  • Expertise with a broad base of technologies, including .NET Core/C# and ASP.NET Core.
  • Experience with containerisation, ideally Kubernetes.
  • Practical experience with Azure, including database (e.g. Cosmos, Azure SQL), messaging (e.g. Service Bus, Event Hub), and storage (e.g. Blob, Table Storage) technologies.
  • A working knowledge of continuous delivery using GitHub and Azure DevOps.
  • An understanding of how to run software at scale.
  • Knowledge of security principals, including authentication and authorisation protocols.
  • Proven success working alongside engineers, using and championing test-driven development.
  • Supporting our culture by championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies.

Nice to have

  • Some experience of front-end technologies like Node.JS, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with secure design techniques, like threat modelling or attack trees.
  • Performance monitoring and observability tools, particularly App Insights and New Relic.
  • Understanding of architectural and design considerations, including design patterns and approaches like Domain Driven Design.
