We need architects capable of driving the delivery of national scale digital, data and technology solutions, using cloud services and working in and across multi-functional agile teams.

You will ideally have experience of delivering public sector systems and services, gained from previous engagements at government departments such as the Home Office, Ministry of Justice, HMRC, DEFRA or similar. Your technical skills will be broad, covering aspects such as cloud services, application integration, data management and custom application development.

You will be an engineer and technologist at heart, but will be comfortable working in environments with multiple suppliers and interacting with a varied set of stakeholders.

This opportunity will provide a combination of complex engagements to work on, massive opportunity for growth and genuine professional support – all in an environment that prioritises teamwork and openness.

What you'll be doing:

You may be part of individual agile teams or may take a lead role across teams.  Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical leadership to team(s) in order to manage and deliver successful solutions
  • Designing and delivering complex cross-domain solutions encompassing a rich variety of technologies using agile methods
  • Shaping the technical and engineering approach for new projects and programmes
  • Being a trusted technical advisor to customers: solving complex technical challenges, establishing credibility & building deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers’ organization
  • Proactively seeking out and learning new technologies and techniques relevant to your work and our customers’ business problems
  • Clearly communicating challenges, options and the chosen technical direction to teams, stakeholders and peers.
  • Guiding and supporting the engineering approaches adopted by agile teams to reduce risk and maximise delivery velocity.

What experience you'll bring:

Your attitude, intellectual ability and approach to work are more important to us than individual technical skills, but you will have gained experience across some of the following areas:

  • 5+ years of design and implementation experience on complex, large scale distributed applications in Public Sector
  • Consultative mindset.
  • Hold UK SC clearance, or be eligible having lived in the UK for the last five years
  • Experience working with solutions based on ASP.Net, .Net Core, Azure API management, Docker, Entity Framework, SQL, No-SQL and Micro-Services patterns is essential.
  • Experience with Azure Service Bus (or other service bus variant) and Event Based Architectures.
  • Solid experience working with Architecture Methods (Micro-Service architecture and patterns, API Design, UML, Solution Architecture, etc.) and of development (back end and front end) and documentation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of the entire software development lifecycle and experience in incremental delivery of software products.
  • Significant experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence and leading and working in agile teams.
  • Experience of using modern software development toolsets including DevOps, Continuous Integration and Delivery and Cloud.
  • Systems design experience, with the ability to architect or explain complex systems interactions including data flows, common interfaces, APIs and other methods, along with broad architecture skills, covering application, infrastructure, data and integration.
  • Responsive JS Frameworks experience such as React or Angular a big plus.
  • Experience with integration with MS Dynamics is a big plus.
