UX Design Team Lead

Scope of Role

This UX team leader role encompasses team leadership and career development responsibilities within the UX function. Adopting an enterprise-wide mindset, you will be responsible for defining and developing design principles and standards, ensuring best practices are followed to maintain consistency in delivering both new and existing products and services to market.

The role:
 You will develop a strong understanding of the businesses, people, products and customers to establish an effective product strategy and help to create value for customers through our products and services.
 You will be a long-term thinker, able to work across the different teams in the business to introduce connected and customer centric propositions.
 Develop tighter alignment and collaboration working across functions within the UK, EU and wider international business.
 Collaborate and communicate across all Wholesale and Funding Teams, Sales, Marketing and wider business to ensure effective ways of working.
 Coaching and development of the UX team, ensuring clear career pathways aligned to goals and objectives.
 You must also be an engaging and versatile communicator and have a strong work ethic and great time-management skills.
 You will be driven by metrics and can demonstrate exactly how your decisions are impacting the business.

Responsibilities
 Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a team of UX designers and researchers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
 Design Standards & Best Practices: Establish and uphold design principles and standards across the organization, ensuring consistency and quality in all UX deliverables.
 Customer-Centric Design: Engage closely with customers during the discovery phase, translating their feedback into effective design solutions that address real customer problems. Deliver wireframes, interactive designs, and information architecture (IA) that enhance user experiences.
 Collaboration & Consultation: Work collaboratively with product teams on various transformation initiatives, providing UX design deliverables, best practices, and consultation to ensure high-quality outcomes.
 Innovation & Improvement: Drive product innovation by improving existing automotive vehicle buying and selling platforms, as well as mobile apps, to create WOW moments for customers and ensure products and services are efficient and enjoyable.
 Digital Transformation: Support the digital transformation by innovating in all product areas and enhancing the connectivity of products and services, delivering a seamless end-to-end experience
across the vehicle value chain, including end-of-lease, inspection, collection, remarketing, and onward sale through auction channels.
 Strategic Alignment: Develop a deep understanding of customers, people, business, and products to create design solutions aligned with product strategy and business objectives.
 Communication & Time Management: Be an engaging and versatile communicator with a strong work ethic and excellent time-management skills.
 Prioritisation: Work closely with product teams to prioritise tasks effectively, ensuring that the main focus remains on the most critical objectives.

Skills, knowledge and experience

Required skills/experience

 Proven experience in UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to translate customer feedback into impactful designs.
 Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience in mentoring and developing a team.
 Expertise in producing wireframes, interactive designs, and IA.
 A good knowledge of digital trends and best practice within UX
 Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with product teams and other stakeholders.
 A passion for innovation and a keen interest in the automotive industry.
 Excellent communication and time-management skills.
 Ability to prioritise tasks and maintain focus on key objectives.

Preferred skills/experience
 Ideally experience in marketing, retail, technology, or automotive industries
 Ideally experience in both B2B and B2C environments
