The Chief Technology Officer Organization’s vision is to raise the bar for technical excellence, talent, strategy, and standards across Technology. It also seeks to cultivate and foster technical innovation, as well as elevate and amplify the technical heartbeat of the organization.

Enterprise Architecture is an organization within the Chief Technology Office at American Express and it is a key enabler of the company’s technology strategy. The four pillars of Enterprise Architecture include:

1.     Architecture as Code: this pillar owns and operates foundational technologies that are leveraged by engineering teams across the enterprise.

2.     Architecture as Design: this pillar includes the solution and technical design for transformation programs and business critical projects which need architectural guidance and support.

3.     Governance: this pillar is responsible for defining technical standards, and developing innovative tools that automate controls to ensure compliance.

4.     Colleague Enablement: this pillar is focused on colleague development, recognition, training, and enterprise outreach.

Software Development

• Proficiency in software development, system architecture, design and coding
• Proficiency in understanding requirements and converting them to technical designs
• Function as member of an agile team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation)
• Participate in code reviews and automated testing
• Debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation
• Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments
• Demonstrate self-reliance, and ability to innovate and achieve team goals
• Demonstrate creative thinking and problem-solving skills, have ability to influence, drive improvements and challenge status quo

 Qualifications – External Minimum requirements:

• Up to 6 years of software development experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience such as:
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud native computing, micro-services, Kubernetes and REST/gRPC APIs
• Experience in developing applictions that are scalable, highly available and resilient
• Experience with design and coding in Java/Golang, additional languages are a plus
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka and Flink
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Google Cloud is a plus
• UI experience using React, Node and Javascript is a plus
• Database experience with Apache Cassandra, and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL is a plus
• Experience with object-oriented design, algorithms and design patterns
• Hands-on expertise with application design, software development and automated testing
• Familiar with Agile or other rapid application development methods
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferred

Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
