About the role
Are you passionate about building and maintaining technology that is used as a tool to help better the lives of those around us? At Camden, it’s not just what we do – it’s why we do it.
As a key member of a DevOps Team, you’ll be working to build and maintain infrastructure and platforms both in our on-premise Linux estate and in the cloud. Alongside this, you’ll support the migration of key applications to cloud hosted services, working as part of empowered teams to flexibly and efficiently understand, maintain, improve and update, our complex estate of applications.
Using Agile ways of working, you’ll be encouraged to identify new ways of solving problems. You’ll be given as much (or as little) ownership and responsibility as you have the appetite for, whilst being supported to develop your skills and grow your career. This is a journey we’ll travel together, so you will have the opportunity to influence our direction and strengthen our knowledge of recent DevOps and Platform technologies.
We value versatile engineers with a breadth of skills, who are happy to adapt to needs of the organisation, rolling their sleeves to pick up something new, whether it’s upgrading servers, writing code, containerisation and Infrastructure as Code, or undertaking 2nd/3rd line support. Joining the organisation at an exciting time, and reporting into the Software Development Manager, there’s loads to get involved with. The opportunity is here for you to challenge the status quo, helping to influence the way we work and the technology we use, to achieve our goals.
The things you’ll achieve
Working using agile techniques as part of a multi-disciplinary team to help deliver a mix of small projects and larger product roadmap items.
Automate the build and deployment of existing applications, either on-prem or in the cloud.
Automate the configuration and deployment of system environments
Address 2nd and 3rd line support issue
An established member of the Out-of-Hours Support rota (additional pay)
Fixing faults following agreed procedure.
Ensuring quality assurance is a key part of delivery – both taking responsibility personally and integrating automated methods.
Help to define excellent business processes, user experiences and technical standards.
Influence our ways of working, helping to bring new ideas to the table to improve efficiency, stability and ease of change.
Your experience should include:
1) 4+ years industry experience.
2) Experience of Linux upgrades and support.
3) Software Engineering experience – preferably Java/JavaScript/Python.
4) Cloud migration, preferably Azure.
5) Source control - preferably Git.
It would be great if you also had exposure to some of the following, but don’t worry if not, there’s an opportunity to learn.
1) Infrastructure as code – e.g. Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK etc.)
2) Containerisation – Docker/Kubernetes.
3) Awareness of playwright/cyprus testing tools.
You have
You are someone with a strong technical aptitude and desire to advance a range of broad technology skills with an emphasis on operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude to problem solving, a desire to advance their, and our, technical and development skills, with an interest in establishing and maintaining sustainable development practices.
