Enterprise Architect

As an Enterprise Architect, you will be a technical leader focused on delivering customer-centric outcomes. You will lead and mentor architectural resources to achieve business goals, develop and own Enterprise Architecture roadmaps and apply industry best practices to support strategic objectives. Collaborating with senior partners, and across product tribes, you will ensure alignment of architectural, business, product, and technical priorities.
Key accountabilities, responsibilities, and measures
Architecture Landscape & Implementation
Decides on architectural strategic technology & vendor choices/selection for the architecture landscape and TCO economic ambition bringing together technical depth and breadth in a drive towards a single vision.
Decides and sets direction on 1–3-year target architectures, transitional states, blueprints, principles, standards & rolling adaptable costed roadmaps for their area. This is in collaboration with D&T product, engineering, data and business stakeholders with a clear line of sight to business need / outcome/ vision and simplifies the landscape. This must also show end to end compliance with the rest of the architecture target.
Form part of overall architecture governance ensuring adequate level of architecture artefacts are well understood, are clear, simple and collaboratively created. That transition roadmaps form business cases and executable plans and guide the way to full implementation.
Ensure the total cost of ownership (TCO) is considered in all decision-making enabling simplification and lowering towards target state.
Ensure architecture vision, targets and changes are delivered seamlessly in partnership with the business
Drive communities of interest for your area of architecture including engineers alongside architects that can drive future target architectures through research and experimentation continually improving business outcome. The community will also create & champion architectural principles and drive engineering best practices through creation and automation of guardrails.
Accountable for all definition, delivery, security, and performance of all Architecture building blocks and key solution building blocks across your landscape.
Accountable for moving M&S from a monolithic to a data-centric, composable, event-driven, scalable and reliable target, includes radical simplification of the current estate for area of ownership
Accountable for expert guidance and input to shape digital initiatives, ensuring that architectural
considerations are at the forefront of decision-making.
Accountable for governing technology life-cycle management, technology selection and implementation patterns across D&T and work in collaboration with the organisation to set pan-M&S standards for your area.
Technical advisor to product teams, communicating the vision and plan and how technology will support outcomes alongside guiding and assuring the successful implementation of the target at squad level
Create a positive and collegiate environment that encourages collaboration with all stakeholders, aligning cross-functional architectural, business, product, and technical priorities.
Identify areas for optimisation / efficiency and deliver technology solutions to drive simplify the landscape driving down costs while increasing productivity and competitive advantage.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining robust architectural policies, frameworks, and governance practices for their area and driving adoption across teams.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with security, regulatory, and quality standards, mitigating risks and safeguarding the organisation technology landscape.
Architecture Leadership
Lead virtually across your community of interest and demonstrate thought leadership across the wider D&T organisation fostering innovation and continuous improvement
Contributor to the D&T annual finance process owning TCO and transition investments for their landscape area
Ability to take people from all levels and areas of the business on a journey in an inspirational way with simple clear communications.
Represent the Architecture Community, advocating and sharing knowledge, assures solutions are aligned across the end-to-end landscape, Company standards and policies and overall macro-Enterprise Architecture
Lead with authenticity and empathy to continually inspire and create high performing teams, operating as a mentor and coach within the solution architecture community and beyond.
Partner Engagement
Support partner management and lead technical aspects of commercial negotiations for the partners/potential partners in their landscape
Influencing technology vendors to deliver products suitable for M&S
Technically/commercially abreast of the external market within their discipline and how it will evolve Measures
Enterprise Architecture roadmap development and successful execution to time and cost
Within your area of the architecture landscape TCO, simplification and innovation measures
Cross-functional collaboration effectiveness and priority alignment
Enterprise model maintenance and service improvement metrics
Architecture team performance and business outcome delivery
Stakeholder satisfaction and engagement levels
Key skills
Technical Skills
5 – 10+ years enterprise architecture expertise with strong modelling capabilities (ArchiMate, UML, BPMN)
Experience developing enterprise models across Business Capability, Product, Service Domain and Data
Proven track record of delivering digital transformation at scale and execution at pace within the last 3 years of emerging architecture and technology trends.
Strong understanding of architectural patterns, integration and modern engineering practices
Ability to assess emerging technologies and align solutions with strategic objectives
Recognised internally as a thought-leader in their area of expertise
Compliance, risk management and architectural best practices across enterprise scale
Good commercial acumen
Deep understanding of current and emerging platforms / technologies in their area of expertise
