Senior Finance Business Partner - Sustainability

Description

The Senior Finance Business Partner will integrate Heathrow’s People and Planet priorities into external financial reporting, financial planning, and processes. Key responsibilities include embedding sustainability within Finance, managing external sustainability financial reporting, supporting climate-related disclosures, maintaining high reporting standards, and adapting to International Sustainability Standards Board requirements, such as quantifying climate-related risks and opportunities. 

This role collaborates with Carbon, Communications, and Sustainability teams to develop strong business cases and incorporate sustainability into all areas of Finance, investment cycles, and planning. These efforts ensure Heathrow's external commitments align with its strategic business plan to achieve People and Planet objectives. 

As a newly formed position, the role is ideal for a self-starter who is motivated by a technically challenging and purpose driven agenda, with experience in business partnering and external reporting.  

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic business partnering to the Communications and Sustainability teams, ensuring consistent evaluation of business cases to deliver meaningful value and strategic objectives, strategic planning and investments in our sustainability strategy.
• Managing and developing Heathrow’s financial external reporting requirements. This includes the continued development of Heathrow’s climate-related disclosures in line with new International Sustainability Standards Board accounting standards.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across the business (e.g., Sustainability, Financial control, Business Planning & Treasury and Business Services).
• Ensuring all necessary accounting and financial information is available to support the management in making business/commercial decisions and be proactive in the communication of company accounting policies including guidance on practical application within the specific business context. 

Qualifications

• Strong business partnering and influencing skills gained through working in a Senior/Finance Business Partnering position
• Prior experience of delivering sustainability reporting for external financial reporting purposes
• Strong professional written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail  
• Dealing with non-finance colleagues and influencing them to add financial value to the business and minimise risk  
• Adept at developing strong business cases with both financial and non-financial benefits  

Ideally, you’ll also have:  

• Technical accounting experience
