Are you a qualified NDT technician looking for a new opportunity? If so, your next role could be at Leonardo Helicopters.
As an NDT Level 3 Technician, you will support the production of Rotor Blades and Dynamic Components manufactured in DCC Yeovil, to help achieve deliveries on time and to cost.
You will carry out NDT inspections on spars and blades and to support the other functions within the department for NDT issues.
For the awareness of internal applicants: this is a JFF level 6 role and an onsite role.
What you will do as an NDT Technician – level 3:
- Carry out NDT inspections on spars and blades and composite parts of the current production in DCC , in according to the applicable Techniques. Assess results and approve as acceptable/unacceptable against technical document requirements.
- Prepare the results of NDT inspections in fully detailed reports.
- Create and issue fully detailed Instruction Techniques, to be approved from Level 3 NDT, for the inspection of new experimental parts and reviewing already existing I.C. if necessary.
- Support the building of the reference standards, for Ultrasonic and X-ray method, in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering and Production, in according to the drawings and specifications applicable (AWPAS and AWIS) .
- Perform routinary checks and issuing reports of Qualification of NDT equipment, in according to the requirements of NDT process specifications (AWPS)
- Provide technical support to the Quality Manager DCC for non-conformance root cause analysis and subsequent elimination. Proactively implement techniques and problem solving tools to identify root cause, containment and corrective action plans to eliminate re-occurrence.
- Attend DCC production meetings relevant to your areas of responsibility to ensure priorities are in line with DCC delivery schedules.
- Attend NDT audits and checklists and accreditation Nadcap
- If not critical for DCC workload and in agreement with the Management external request to the DCC perimeter for NDT activities, could be supported.
What you’ll bring
- Educated at least HNC/HND/BTEC in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, with 5 years relevant experience in depth specialist knowledge of composite material and NDT or GSCE Technology in Electronic/Engineering and Manufacturing with 10 years relevant experience in depth knowledge of composite production processes and NDT.
- Qualification Inspector level 3 in UT and RT methods, in according with EN4179.
- Recognized experience in NDT inspections, UT and X-ray methods, preferred aeronautical sector, and in the techniques Through Transmission, Pulse Echo, Phase d’array, Film x-ray, digital and computer radiography.
- Experience to use equipment for NDT ultrasonic and x-ray inspections.
- Knowledge of composite material and processes, engineering design.
- Knowledge of specifications and rules of Quality System.
- A thorough understanding and experience of using PC applications, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint. SAP knowledge advantageous.
- High level of proven interpersonal skills, communication, good commercial judgement and effective negotiating skills, and attitude to work in a team.
