Role purpose

As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer at VM02, you will serve as a key technical specialist within the Security Operations function, responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Virgin Media’s cyber security portfolio.

Operating at the national level, you will provide expert technical input, hands-on support, and collaboration across both internal operations and external customer engagements.

In this role, you will work as part of a team of security engineers focused on customer deployments and change delivery, contributing your expertise to ensure world-class security solutions are effectively implemented.

You will act as a trusted technical contributor across Virgin Media Business and Liberty Global, offering specialist support to Business Operations Support and interfacing with Product Management, Network Engineering, and external suppliers.

Your involvement spans complex problem resolution, on-site technical consultancy, and the implementation of secure business solutions tailored to both public and private sector clients — including environments requiring elevated clearance (PSN-P / IL3).

You will assist in the introduction and deployment of new products and services, contributing to technical reviews, testing, and implementation activities to ensure they integrate smoothly into existing operations. You’ll also help maintain and improve standard processes and procedures to support consistent delivery and service quality. As part of your role, you’ll stay up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and security practices, taking part in training and continuous learning to keep your skills current and relevant.

You will work alongside Pre-sales and Design teams, both taking input from and feeding technical insight into their activities to ensure security requirements are accurately reflected in solution designs. You will regularly review live customer network designs to identify improvements in efficiency and resilience, positioning Virgin Media Business at the forefront of cyber security in the UK B2B space.

Due to the sensitive nature of some projects, you will be required to obtain NPPV3 + SC security clearance and participate in a 24x7 on-call rota, supporting critical incidents and out-of-hours change requests where necessary.
