JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a dynamic and talented professional to join our Open Banking Strategic Business Unit (SBU) as the Executive Director of Business Strategy. This role offers the opportunity to shape the long-term business strategy of a new, rapidly growing, revenue-generating business, working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and client service.

As an Executive Director of Business Strategy within Open Banking, you will own the end-to-end strategy for the Open Banking business and drive the execution of strategic planning in close partnership with the leadership. This role serves as a primary strategy representative to the business framing and answering the program’s most critical strategic questions through rigorous analysis, scenario modeling, and executive level communications. Responsibilities include developing executive narratives, assessing policy and market impacts, and guiding leadership decision-making, while shaping the future of our Open Banking platform through your strategic vision and influence.

The Chase Open Banking team is committed to empowering customers to share their financial data securely, safely, and transparently within the open banking ecosystem. Our mission is to deliver market-leading platforms that enable aggregators and direct connectors to securely access customer-permissioned data, while building out a two-sided business model that benefits both customers and commercial partners. We collaborate closely with partners across billing, invoicing, and are developing a self-service developer portal to streamline integration and access. We support our customers’ ability to access their financial data and have full control and visibility in sharing it securely with the apps and companies they choose.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and drive Chase’s Open Banking business strategy ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities, regulatory bodies, and long term growth objectives.

  • Lead execution of strategy development for Open Banking including problem framing, hypothesis development, and analytical rigor and delivery of actionable recommendations.

  • Serve as the business strategy lead partnering directly with Open Banking executive leadership to identify, prioritize, and answer the program's most critical strategic questions, develop strategic frameworks, decision materials, and executive narratives to support senior level decision making.

  • Translate complex business technology and regulatory inputs into clear structured strategy operations with explicit trade-offs and implications. 

  • Build and maintain scenario analysis assessing the potential impact of regulatory and policy changes on open banking business models investment priorities and growth trajectories.

  • Act as a strategic control owner of Open Banking driving enterprise-wide alignment and ensuring initiatives progress in a coherent, disciplined, and well sequenced manner.

  • Partner across Product, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, And Policy teams to ensure strategy execution remains integrated and enterprise consistent.

  • Track progress against strategic objectives, services, risks, and interdependencies and escalate issues with clear recommendations and mitigation paths to provide trusted thought partnership with senior leaders.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate strategy management, consulting, internal strategy, or related senior strategic roles within financial services or similarly complex organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience driving strategic development and execution in highly regulated financial environments.

  • Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop robust analytical frameworks, and deliver clear decision oriented insights.

  • Strong experience producing executive level communications, including c-suite presentations board, reading materials, and leadership briefings

  • Deep understanding of financial services business models, strategic planning processes, and enterprise governance.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders through clarity, logic, and presence.

  • Track record of effective cross functional leadership and stakeholder management across business technology functions.

  • Strong understanding of Open Banking, data access, and related regulatory and industry frameworks.

  • Sound judgement, discretion, and decision-making consistent with senior leadership accountability.

  • Strong culture leader with a collaborative mindset, teamwork spirit and strong interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA, MPA) strongly preferred

Note: This role requires five days in the office (Mon-Fri) in New York, NY or Wilmington, DE and will not support Hybrid options. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US.
